2026 Celebrate the Royal Photo Contest

Back by popular demand, our annual Celebrate the Royal Photo Contest returns this summer!

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Submit photos by Sunday, September 13th, 2026

RRCT is accepting photo submissions that highlight the scenic vistas, waterways, flora & fauna, and outdoor enthusiasts throughout the watershed. Winners will be announced at our Annual Meeting on September 15th.

We're looking for photographs that capture the unique character of the Royal River and its surrounding watershed. With countless public access preserves throughout the watershed, this is the perfect opportunity to venture into some of our lesser-known properties or to share your ‘magical moment’ that reminds you of how lucky we are to live surrounded by such beautiful open spaces.

Photos can be taken anywhere in the Royal River watershed, which includes Yarmouth, North Yarmouth, New Gloucester, Pownal, and parts of Gray, Durham, Freeport, and Auburn. View an interactive map of the watershed here.

Photographers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate. Contestants may submit up to three original photos for consideration.

PRIZES

The top winner in each category will receive a Patagonia Black Hole Duffel 40L, valued at $165. It's the perfect weekend travel bag, carry-on size! Duffel colors may vary.
