Nature Journaling Workshop with Rebekah Lowell

Friday, November 13, 2026 | 1:00 -4:00 pm
Join Maine Master Naturalist, author/illustrator, and educator Rebekah Lowell at Littlejohn Island Preserve for an afternoon of slowing down, observing, and connecting with the natural world. Through drawing exercises, texture studies, and creative prompts, you'll begin your own nature journaling practice. No art experience necessary! Anyone with a sense of curiosity and a desire to learn how to nature journal can join!
What is nature journaling? It's the practice of recording what you observe using words, pictures, and numbers in the pages of a sketchbook or notebook.
In this workshop, you'll learn about the benefits of nature journaling and the anatomy of a nature journal page. You'll explore different page layout options, create some textures to practice, try some warm ups, and discover a three-part system to getting started: I Notice, I Wonder, It Reminds Me Of, as well as other prompts as time allows. We will open our minds and journals, and get curious!
